NATURAL CLADDING STONES

NATURAL CLADDING STONES

Our natural stone wall cladding comes as individual pieces of stone and gives virtually endless possibilities to create random patterns and designs. Not only can they be used on internal walls, external walls and elevations, but also in landscaping applications such as garden walls, patios, paths and stairs.

Wall cladding stone can be installed by a reasonably experienced DIYer or a trades person. They can either be dry stacked (coursed stone) or pointed with mortar (random stone). Most of the stones are sawn at the back, sometimes sides as well, allowing quick and efficient fixing to wall surfaces using proprietary adhesive.

There are four ranges of stone wall cladding: coursed stone, random stone, split face stone and straight cut stone .

Natural Wall Cladding Coursed Stone

Coursed stone wall cladding comes as individual piecesof stone. They are cut in approximately uniform heights and different lengths so that every course of stone is separate. Some are more uniform than others, but all of them achieve a dry stone effect. Generally they do not need any mortar joints as they should be fixed as tight as possible. For some of the stones a thin mortar joint may be possible.

It is fairly easy to lay this type of cladding. The final effect is up to the fitters sense of aesthetics and fitting skills.

Natural stone wall - cost: Prices start from £40 + VAT per square metre for coursed stone. It is advisable that 15% more stone than area to be covered is added for wastage.

Random Stone

Random stone wall cladding comes as individual pieces of stone. They are cut in random heights and lengths so there is no particular pattern emerging. The stones come in large, medium and small formats. Some types are available in more than one format, e.g. Balkan Sun.

They need mortar joints as they are loosely laid due to their irregularities. These stones are also excellent for paving applications.

It is relatively easy to lay this type of stone wall cladding, however it tends to be more difficult than fitting coursed or straight cut stone. The final effect, again, is up to the fitters sense of aesthetics and fitting skills.

Cost: Prices start from £35 + VAT per square metre for random stone. It is advisable that 15% more stone than area to be covered is added for wastage.
